I am in the midst of a no-buy year for books. It’s been easier than expected, but I am just starting to get the itch to mosey around a book store and buy something I won’t read for years to come. Hoping for a 2025 release for “Best Woman”… if not, an exception might be in my future.

dang, I needed to start my no-buy this morning. it has been...an eventful day. at least everything i purchased was secondhand/vintage? maybe my no-buy will be instituting a one in, one out policy to finally get me to list the things that aren't working for me on resale platforms.

I like that, whatever works for you! I did a month last year where I could only buy secondhand and that was really helpful too

I did a no-buy in April for clothes, homeware and presents after I went a bit overboard after moving into a new place. It was a success and I only broke it to order some cargo pants that I couldn’t actually pick up until today, so it doesn’t count!! 🫡 it was positive and helped me create a list of the priority items I wanted to buy when I could. I also use the karma app which tracks when stuff is on sale as I’m trying to buy less things at full price

I am doing this no-buy May with you! The final straw was when I bought me and my one year old matching t-shirts (with embroidered strawberries!). A bridge too far, according to my sister.

I second this! I’m out of work, so I’ll be shopping my closet for the time being. Having a lack of funds has made me more critical when spending, which has been helpful during my more lucrative moments. I used to shop a lot, but increasingly I felt meh about the stuff I was buying and would return most of it. I find the need/want for things diminishes when I let the item(s) sit in my cart overnight or a few days. Then I weed out what it is I really want or need. Also, congrats on your book, looking forward to reading it!
